Happy Ending Stories

Dancer and Zumba's new home located in Underhill, VT.

Here is a cute story for you, and was the highlight of my week last week.: After doing evening chores, my daughter (whom you didn't get to meet because she was at school) requested to say good night to the girls. I peeked over the door and Dancer had finished her grain but Zumba was nursing, so I told her she had to wait. So we picked up around the barn and set up the next days feed while waiting. A few moments later a little black nose poked up over the door, as if to say 'ok, she's done'. I opened the stall door and let my daughter in to say her good nights. Dancer came right up to her and started nuzzling her and giving her 'kisses' all over her face. She of course thought that it was hilarious and a little ticklish. She then asked if she could pat Zumba. I told her to crouch down just a little and put her hand out and see if she would come to her. When she didn't right away, I told my daughter to just be patient. And what followed was like a scene right out of a movie. Dancer circled around and got behind Zumba and nudged her forward towards my daughter until she was close enough for my daughter to give her some scratches. Which she thoroughly enjoyed and followed up with rubbing her dribbled milk chin all over us.

I think it's safe to say Dancer has willingly accepted us as home. I was so moved and flattered by that gesture.  In those few moments she let me know that I was doing everything right by her.

Molly was adopted in March and here is a little update from her new mom.

Hi Gina,

All is very well with Molly. She had her spring vet visit yesterday for a physcial and innoculations and the vet was very pleased with her and behavior. (who could not fall in love with her) My farrier would like to steal her from me cause he is also in love! She has an appointment in 3 weeks to have her teeth floated (I am not looking forward to that cause I hate tranquilizing any animal but it is neccessary)

An annoucment with our name would be fine. Molly has learned to go over jumps so I will send you pics of her jumping in the next couple of days. I have to tell you that I cannot imagine life without my little girl. She likes to be part of anything we do. She gets lots of exercise as she goes on any walk or trail ride we go on. She has bonded with the other horses quite well and when we take her out without them they get upset when she leaves.

Janet
